fall bucket lists & a mustard dress

You want to know something funny?  I tick off nearly everything on those Fall bucket lists that you see floating around pinterest at this time of year every day at work.  Apple picking?  Check.  Hayrides?  I sometimes drive one (always empty though...haha).  Pumpkin patch exploring?  Check.  Misty morning walks?  Check.  Sip apple cider?  Heck, I help make it!

I don't mean to throw any shade at those lists AT ALL.  I love that I get to experience all of those Fall things every single day.  It can be hard sometimes to see the joy in all the little things when it's your job, but I try my best!  It's easy to take farm life for granted when it's all you've ever known, and some parts aren't all that fun.  But, it's such a unique experience, and I always remind myself of how lucky I am to work with the land in such a beautiful part of the world.

Fall really is my favourite time of year, although sometimes I wish I had a bit more time to savour it without all the stress and business that comes from our farm.  I have felt almost panicked these past couple of weeks as I watch the trees change colour and lose their leaves...thinking, I haven't explored enough or taken enough photos!  I know that's silly, and I'm hoping for many beautiful Fall adventures come November 1st!

Anyhow....let's talk about this dress!  I snagged it off the sale rack at H&M for 10 bucks.  Heck yes!  I am such a sucker for mustard, and love this addition to my ever-growing mustard collection.

Happy Fall Bucket list checking off!

P.S.  Let me know which activities are on your Fall bucket list and if you've checked any off yet!

a plum dress amongst the plum trees

Oh hello there!  Why yes this is an outfit post!  It's been awhile since I've shot one, and it was so much fun to get back into the groove of it.

Most of my outfit posts you'll find here are actually shot by myself, with my trusty tripod and remote!  I'm hoping to bribe my sister to help me out again for future ones....but it really is nice being able to do it yourself.

Anyway.....this dress!  Seriously, it is so stunning.  It's actually a bit of a dress/romper hybrid, as it's a romper with a lace dress overlay.  It has quite a deep vee in the front, so I paired it with the daintiest lilac bralette.  The entire affair feels so romantic and feminine, and I had so much fun wandering through the plum trees for these photos!

Hope you enjoyed this slight departure from pies and cake!

frocktail party: a retro dress & blueberry basil lemonade

Oh hey friends!  Surprisingly, there is no pumpkin involved in this post!  Shocking I know!

Now, do any of you remember those divine, purple, blueberry basil doughnuts I shared a while ago?  Well, that flavour combo has really stuck with me, and today I'm sharing another blueberry basil recipe!

blush lace among plum trees

Living on a farm is a weird and wonderful thing.  Nearly everyone you meet dreams of living on a farm, although very few realize the amount of work that goes into running one.  Plants and animals don't care about weekends or holidays, and often the amount of work that needs done in a day is much greater than eight hours worth.  This is especially true during harvest time.  Our family has been running hard for the last six weeks already picking apples, plums, pears, pumpkins, potatoes, squash, gourds, and more, and we're all eagerly awaiting November 1st (aka: the next day our store is closed)!

navy blue & a bow in the back

Let me introduce you to my new favorite dress!  I've probably worn it too many times in the last couple of weeks, but I can't help it!  It's super soft and comfy, and can so easily be dressed up or down.

Also....check out the bow in the back.  And POCKETS!  If the pockets don't sell you, I don't know what would.

classic black & a peter pan collar

This dress.  It is perfection.  I have such a weakness for peter pan collars, and I think this lace one adds just the right amount of whimsical detail to this classic little black dress.  Lately I've been drawn to simple, classic shapes, and I feel as though an overhaul of my closet is in order!  This dress might just be the heart of what I would like my new wardrobe to be.

styled shoot // the plains of jasper & a hat

Clara and I woke up early on our final day in Jasper in order for us to catch the gorgeous morning light, and the sunset as it bathed the mountains in soft pink tones.  This location was one of the strangest and most beautiful places that we saw in Jasper.  The ground was sandy, and covered with very shallow puddles that reflected the light in a way that made it look like the whole thing was water from certain angles.  Just breathtaking.
