sand dune sunrise

While on our Oregon road trip in Spring, Clara and I got up early one morning and had a mini photo shoot on the stunning sand dunes of South Beach State Park.  The dunes are so lovely, albeit a bit hard to walk up and down. Ha!

Oregon coast road trip // Day 5 1/2: Chasing Waterfalls & Seattle (again...)

Oh hey there....

Yes this is another installment of our Oregon road trip.  Yes that road trip was way back in May.  Yes I might be a bit of a procrastinator.  It's not on purpose!  I just kept forgetting that I hadn't finished this series yet, so here we are.  Forgive me?

Oregon Coast road trip // day 4 1/2: Portland

Day 4 started with a gorgeous sunrise photo session on the beach in a vintage dress with the ever talented Clara (see her work here!), and I can't wait to share the photos from it!

We sadly said goodbye to our yurt, and headed northeast to Portland!!!  We knew that we were about to be immersed in donuts, books, and hipster things.

strawberry crepes

So apparently the Fraser Valley forgot that it usually rains nonstop until mid-June.....and we've basically had Summer since April.  It's been nuts.  So so hot!  From a farmer's perspective, it's been both good and bad.  Everything's been growing like crazy, but it's meant a lot of crops have been ready several weeks early.....and of course we've had to water everything like mad to try and keep up with the heat!

It's not an obnoxious or overpowering spiciness at all, and is more of a subtle little kick!  And it complements the rich chocolate flavor of this cookie so well.  Jordyn saw Diablo Cookies popping up around the internet for quite a while now, and finally decided to give them a go!  She tweaked her to-die-for triple chocolate cookie recipe into this masterpiece, and the results are pretty spectacular.

lemon doughnuts with raspberry glaze

I love love anything lemon!  It pairs incredibly well with so many different foods, and it's such a lovely flavor for Summer.

A few weeks ago I decided to experiment with lemon doughnuts, and knew that a raspberry glaze would be so delicious with them.  The raspberry glaze gets bonus points as well since the colour of it is so darn pretty.  No food colouring needed people!

earl grey lavender ice cream

Now, this ice cream is extra special, since it was created in collaboration with one of my all-time favorite companies...Ruche!  They asked me to develop a recipe for their Summer Lookbook, and I was delighted to do so.  This is what Jordyn and I came up with!
