outfit post: bows and a backpack

I've decided that when I grow up I must live within reasonable driving distance of the beach.  Preferably walking distance if I get my way.  I don't know what it is, but I just always feel better when I'm beside a gigantic body of water, and I miss it dearly whenever I'm away from it for too long.

This lovely lake is located in Kelowna, and had such pretty mountains surrounding it.  Let's just say that between the lake and all the pretty orchards and wineries...I'm kind of convinced that I could move to the Okanagan.  Just sayin'.

Now, onto why we're really here!!  This outfit is basically a collage of all my favorite things.  Lace, a backpack, bows, a dress, and a pair of oxfords.  I'm really not ready to let Summer go quite yet.  As much as I do love fall, and all the coziness it brings, I really love the whole "no coat" thing.

Oh yeah, and if you love me....please pretend like you didn't notice my disgustingly white feet.  No, I'm not wearing socks.  Yes, that's the kind of weirdo tan you get when you're a farmer.

Also, if you think you see a faint boot tan, glove tan, or farmer tan....please don't mention it.

outfit post: introducing jorica

Now if you've been reading our blog for a while, you've probably seen my lovely friend Jorica before!  She was my main adventure-seeking partner while I lived in Van, and I miss her to pieces!

We met in 5 years ago while we were both first years at UBC, and quickly bonded over our love of books and our mutual dislike of physics labs.  Since then, we get together to craft, try new restaurants, explore Vancouver, or simply talk and talk and talk.

Jorica is so sweet and encouraging, and I would be so lost without her.

While we were visiting the quaint little town of Steveston a couple of weeks ago, I asked Jorica if I could do some portraits of her, and she said yes!  I'm not sure why I never did this before...silly me.  She's gorgeous, and has such cute style!

dress: urban outfitters // lace shirt: express // jacket: fairweather // necklace: a gift from me (from a craft fair) // boots: h&m // wrap bracelet: handmade by jorica herself!

Now that was an epic post!  I just had too many favorites, I couldn't leave any out!

outfit post: lace and chambray love

Have I mentioned how much I'm going to miss the beach once I move home for the summer?  Because I'm going to miss it...A LOT!!  I guess all I can do about it is enjoy it while I can, and this means going on as many beach walks/runs as I possibly can!

My favorite part about this shirt is hands down the back.  It looks like just another plain ol' chambray shirt, but then BAM there's lace!  I've had my eye on this shirt since October, but the price scared me too much to even try it on.  Sooo...I ended up stalking it for the next few months, and was lucky enough to snatch it up during a 75% off winter sale!  Woohoo!

I also picked up these red pants during that sale too, which I was pretty stoked about.  I was waiting to find the perfect pair, and fell in love with the lovely wine red tone of these ones!

I hope you are all enjoying the first couple weeks of Spring!  It's been (mostly) beautiful here in Van, and the crazy amount of cherry blossoms everywhere has been bringing me so much joy!

outfit post: my happy pants

These are my happy pants.  You can probably tell why.

I wear them when I need to create my own sunshine and happiness (which happens a lot on the west coast).

I totally forgot about this trench coat this year, until I wanted to take a picture of this outfit.  I had one of those "Where in the world is my favourite trench coat??" moments.  And I found it hanging on my closet door, in plain view.

I am so glad I found it!  I wear it all the time now.

I feel like it has been a while since my last jumping photo... So here you go!

Do you have a "Happy" article of clothing?  Something that puts you in a good mood when you wear it?

outfit post: soft blue button up + top knot love

Now I had a very specific source of inspiration for this outfit....

(I even had a scarf picked out as well, and promptly forgot it in my apartment...haha, oops!).

I'm sure many of you have seen this image floating around pinterest, and I've always loved the simplicity of it.   It's casual chic perfected!

I've been on the lookout for a simple blue button up for quite a while now, and managed scored this blue shirt during a boxing day sale! I instantly knew that this is how I wanted to style it.

It's definitely my new favorite, and I've worn it way too many days in a row already.  hehe.  It's just so soft and comfy, and can easily be dressed up or down.

I found this purse on a ridiculous sale at an Aldo outlet in downtown Van, and ended up nabbing it for 9 bucks...after tax!  I have a lot of medium size purses, and I love that this one is a bit smaller...making it more convenient when you don't want to bring much with you!

outfit post: a little white dress

So Kelsey and I spent a week of our Christmas holidays in Alberta visiting family.  One day while we were there, most of our family was out, so we decided to do an outfit post in the snow!

This seemed like a good idea before we stepped outside.  It was a bone chilling minus 20!!  But we threw on our coats and braved the cold anyways.

I am happy to report that I am still in possession of all of my fingers and toes.  We got a true taste of Alberta's winter, but we managed to survive.

This dress is quickly becoming one of my new favourites.  I bought it and the tights at American Eagle during their Black Friday sale!  (I guess it is sort of a thing in Canada now too!  Though I will be honest and tell you that I got it on a Thursday.)

I think we were only out in the snow for 8 minutes, but it was definitely enough!  Kelsey was very efficient with her photo taking.  The extreme cold out in Alberta definitely made me appreciate B.C.'s milder winters, although it was so wonderful to enjoy a white Christmas!
